Drafter – Engineering Department
Job Overview
The Drafter will be responsible for creating and revising 2D and 3D drawings, assemblies, and Bill of Materials (BOMs) for manufacturing. This role requires strong technical accuracy, attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate with engineers, project managers, and shop floor personnel to ensure designs are production-ready.
**Facility is located in Montebello, CA.
Primary Responsibilities
• Create accurate 2D fabrication drawings and 3D models for parts, assemblies, and layouts.
• Develop and maintain Bill of Materials (BOMs) linked to assemblies and ERP/MRP systems.
• Apply GD&T and follow ASME Y14.5 and company drawing standards.
• Work from engineer-provided sketches, redlines, or verbal instructions.
• Manage drawing revisions and maintain proper version control in PDM/PLM systems.
• Collaborate with engineering, production, and quality teams to resolve drawing-related issues.
• Prepare drawings for various manufacturing methods including machining, welding, fiberglass molding, and fabrication.
• Ensure all drawings meet internal and customer specifications.
• Support product development and prototyping projects as needed.
Job Requirements
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or similar CAD software.
• 2+ years of drafting experience in a manufacturing or fabrication environment.
• Understanding of manufacturing processes and shop-floor requirements.
• Familiarity with tolerancing, material callouts, and fabrication best practices.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects with shifting priorities.
Preferred:
• Experience with fiberglass molding or custom fabrication.
• Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems for BOM management.
• Experience with ASME Y14.5 standards and GD&T.
• Hands-on experience in manufacturing or prototyping.
• Bilingual (Spanish/English) is a plus.
